Ever wonder if you truly have what it takes to be a top maid in Japan's esteemed popular Maid Cafe industry? Each year hundreds of Maid hopefuls head to the Nihon Maid Association, for thorough training courses with hopes to become a top Maid in Japan, and many have to go through Yunmao Ayakawa first. At the Nihon Maid Association in Japan, Yunmao Ayakawa, as an Official Board Member, Ambassador, and Instructor has the duty to host official instructional courses and lectures for up and coming maids and hostesses. With interest in this Phenomenon now moving Westward, Yunmao developed an introductory training course for American hopefuls to attend that will be held at Katsucon 16 on February 13, 2010 at the Gaylord Resort at National Harbor, MD.
This will be Yunmao's second Maid Association Workshop in America following her debut course at Anime Mid Atlantic 2009 were room capacity was met at nearly 100 attendees. The course will include the history of Maids and Hostesses in Japan, History of the Maid Association and their importance to the restaurant, Maid Café, hotel, and Entertainment industry in Japan. There will also be fun demonstrations and activities. Everyone who will attend the full workshop will receive an "Official Certificate of Participation*" directly from, and recognized by The Nihon Maid Association. The Certificate will state that the attendee has attended and completed Yunmao Ayakawa's introductory session at Katsucon 2010. This event is due in part by Katsucon Sweet 16, Nihon Maid Association, and TenBu Productions. To attend you must sign up below by 11:55PM PST on February 1, 2010 and be a registered Attendee at Katsucon Sweet 16 ? this is a 2 hour workshop, limited space available.

The Official Certificate of Participation given out at the end of this workshop is a non-accredited certificate only given to verify and confirm that someone has fully attended an Official Nihon Maid Association Introductory Maid Workshop held by Yunmao Ayakawa at Katsucon sweet 16 - 2010. Though certificates will allow an attendee to be recognized by the Nihon Maid Association as attended and completed an Official Nihon Maid Association Introductory Maid Workshop held by Yunmao Ayakawa at Anime Mid Atlantic 2009, it does not guarantee entry or enrollment to any official courses held by the Nihon Maid Association or any other institutions. This certificate does not state that any attendee or persons has completed any accredited courses or training held by any member or instructor of the Nihon Maid Association. For official enrollment procedures persons must follow instructions specified by the Nihon Maid Association. (You must attend the entire workshop to receive certificate)

In 2006 Yunmao Ayakawa, to a packed room of attendees at Anime Mid-Atlantic, held a panel on Cosplay, Otaku, and introduced the room to a little known eatery concept called a Maid Cafe. Unknown to anyone at the time, but two years later renditions of one of Japan's most unique cultural exports is turning up at U.S. conventions nation wide. As a foremost authority on the Maid Cafe, the culture, and as an Official Spokesperson for the Nihon Maid Association, this has made Yunmoa proud and inspired her to keep spreading the Japanese Maid Phenomenon to as much places as possible!
Yunmao is listed as a must see person on the topics of Otaku and Maid culture. Media from around the world have sought her out for stories and to host segments of TV shows surrounding Maid Cultures, costumes and Cafes. In 2007 Yunmao became a board member and Official Spokesperson of the Nihon Maid Association. Part of her duties includes holding lectures and training workshops to eager recruits who want to make it as one of Japan's adored Maids. Attendees to these Nihon Maid Association courses are prepped to work in many areas of Japan's service industries that require trained Hostesses including all types of respected restaurants and Five star Hotels. Courses include lectures on history, facts and terms, training exorcises and of course quizzes. The Nihon Maid Association is the only official association in Japan that offers high quality education and workshops on the Japanese Maid tradition, thereby promoting the Maid Culture as a profession and further advancing the "Maid" as a professional entity in various industries.
